Construction and Environment Division
The Laboratory of Hydraulic Engineering is part of the Institute of Hydraulic Engineering (IWA) and has a measuring boat equipped with DGPS and an echo sounder as well as mobile measuring instruments for hydrological in-situ investigations, such as ADCP and GPS floats for recording currents in flowing waters and CTD probes for turbidity, salinity and temperature measurements. Furthermore, experimental equipment is available for hydraulic model tests. In cooperation with the THW-Bundesschule Hoya, tests can be carried out on a single-dust test dike. The institute also has hardware and software for numerical 2-D and 3-D modelling of flow, swell and sediment transport processes.
