Engineering and Management of Space Systems
Spacecraft operation needs a complex infrastructure on ground, to ensure command & data handling capabilities during the whole mission. Starting from ground operations (before shipping), though launchpad operation, launch sequence, early orbit phase (LEOP), commissioning, routine operations, mission completion until disposal, different stakeholders in an international environment have to work together for a successful mission. This presentation will focus on the pure “operational” part of the needed ground segment. It will highlight all necessary parts of the ground segment, its interfaces and interactions and processes which are needed for a typical spacecraft operation in an ESA & DLR environment.
