Bionik-Seminar
Rotational rheometers are the work horses for studying the mechanics of complex liquids and soft solids. We have improved their precision by about 1-2 orders of magnitude. This enables measurements at extremely thin samples. This not only allows exploring the material behavior at very high mechanical loads but it also permits new applications not possible with standard devices. Here, we provide some examples on how this device helps improving our knowledge of the mechanics of biomaterials, such as cells, DNA and other biopolymers.
