Guest Lecture by Leonardo Tonus, author, professor of Brazilian Literature at the Sorbonne Université, Paris.
This talk aims to examine the challenges facing contemporary Brazilian artistic production in the face of global humanitarian, health and political catastrophes. Starting from an analysis of the writing process Leonardo Tonus’ last collection of poems “Diários em mar aberto” (São Paulo, Folhas de Relva, 2021), we will look at the paths taken by literature and the visual arts in Brazil in terms of the representation of people in situations of refuge or in combating the racist, misogynist or homophobic discourse that ravages the country. In short, a dialogue that underlies every artistic creation between emergencies and aesthetic and political insurgencies.
