They come from the Philippines, Egypt and Germany and have enrolled at Hochschule Bremen (HSB) to pursue a career in shipping. The Libra Group and Lomar Shipping are supporting the four students with Achim Boehme scholarships so that they can pursue their international studies with determination. One of these scholarships has been extended. It supports this year's DAAD prizewinner Michael Pasion.
‘With your support, I can make my dream come true,’ Jinky Pagilagan told her sponsors at the signing ceremony at HSB on 22 November 2024. The Bachelor's student from the Philippines is one of the four scholarship holders. She is joined by Passant Adel Hassanein (Egypt) and Lennart Jacob Bünemann (Germany). They are all studying the English-language Bachelor's degree programme in Shipping and Chartering (ISSC). This year's DAAD prizewinner at HSB, Michael Pasion from the Philippines, is also studying on the same programme and his scholarship has been extended.
The Achim Boehme Scholarship was established in memory of Achim Boehme, CEO of Lomar Shipping, who passed away in 2020. It is intended to support students on the international Ship Management (ISMN) and Shipping and Chartering (ISSC) degree programmes at HSB. It was awarded for the third time this year. The sponsorship comprises 500 euros per month - initially for one year.
‘We are very pleased about the continued generous support from the Libra Group and Lomar Shipping,’ says Prof Dr Ilknur Colmorn, Head of the International Bachelor's degree programme Ship Management - Nautical Sciences (ISMN) at HSB. ‘Shipping is a demanding career field, but one that offers many opportunities.’ Prof. Dr Suzette Suarez, Head of the International Bachelor's Degree Programme in Shipping and Chartering (ISSC), adds: ‘We hope that we can also interest and inspire young talents in the shipping industry by offering them a good and diverse education.’
