Marius Wacker's Bachelor's thesis ‘Was lachst Du? - Komik und Humor in der postmigrantischen Gesellschaft in ihrer Bedeutung für die Soziale Arbeit aus rassismuskritischer Perspektive’ was awarded first prize at this year's Caritas Foundation Hamburg bachelor award ceremony.
Prof Dr Antje Krueger and Prof Dr Kirsten Sander from School of Social Sciences supervised the thesis at Hochschule Bremen – City University of Applied Sciences (HSB).
The Caritas Foundation Hamburg Bachelor Prize has been awarded since 2010 for outstanding theses in social work degree programmes at seven universities in northern Germany. In addition to promoting qualified junior staff, the aim is also to raise awareness of the new Bachelor's degree. HSB is involved in awarding this prize through Prof Dr Sabine Wagenblass and Prof Dr Christian Spatscheck as lecturers of confidence.
The 1st prize is endowed with €1,000. The award ceremony and the presentation of the award-winning work took place on 12 November 2024 at a ceremony at HAW Hamburg. The award winners presented their work there and were honoured with laudatory speeches.
In addition to Marius Wacker's work, Senta Krause (Kiel University of Applied Sciences) and Franziska Schaffer (Hamburg Protestant University of Applied Sciences) were also honoured.
