The first "EMSS Industry Week" took place at the beginning of July as part of the international double degree Master's programme "Engineering and Management of Space Systems" (EMSS) and as part of the DAAD Eastern partnerships with the partner university Technical University of Gdánsk, Poland.
Ten students from the first official round of both institutions and five involved colleagues from Gdansk travelled to HSB for the event. During this week, the students gained a good overview of the university, Bremen and what to expect in the winter semester. A historical tour of Bremen's city centre rounded off the week's programme. "We really appreciate the opportunity to visit the HSB campus in advance and see how it is organised. We are already looking forward to being here again in October," said Gdansk students Zuzana Koslowska and Michal Piotruk.
In addition, several discussions took place to finalise the contracts and the organisation of the degree programme and to develop possible topics for collaboration in research. Prof. Andreas Teufel, Dean of Studies at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at HSB, expressed his relief: "After three trial runs and a lot of time and energy, we are very pleased that the degree programme is accredited and in high demand. It's also great that we've now been able to get together with our colleagues to talk about important content for the future." The degree programme was designed by Prof. Dr Matevska in accordance with the recommendations of the International Council on Systems Engineering (INCOSE) and the Society for Systems Engineering (GfSE). "The accreditation was successful, with high praise from the experts and without any conditions," adds Prof Dr Matevska delighted to Prof. Teufel’s statement.
Despite the considerable organisational effort for Prof. Dr. Matevska, who also developed the idea and concept, and her small team, this format is to be established as an annual event as part of the Double Degree Programme and introduce students and lecturers to Bremen's industry.
This plan is reinforced by the consistently positive feedback from the guests: "We are absolutely delighted with the great organisation by Prof. Dr. Matevska and the opportunity to visit the companies and HSB. It's really impressive how many experts and engineers are involved with so much commitment and expertise. The atmosphere is simply fantastic," said students Zuzanna Kwoczek and Jakub Czubasiewicz, summarising the impressions of the entire group at the end of the "EMSS Industry Week".
