"Sparking Ideas": Successful Workshop at Hochschule Bremen
As part of the IGNITION project, Hochschule Bremen - City University of Applied Sciences (HSB) hosted a workshop for startups, small businesses, and creatives. The goal: to actively involve the local economy in the university's new, innovative teaching formats. A key focus was bringing together the dynamism dynamics and innovative power of young regional businesses with the bright minds at the university to develop future-oriented concepts—in other words, “inspiring sparking ideas.”
In addition to stimulating keynote speeches, including one by Prof. Dr. Annika Maschwitz, Vice President of Academic Affairs and Internationalisation, on the new didactic format "Challenge-Based Learning", participants were able to develop specific "challenges" for an international course planned for the summer semester of 2025. Students from several European universities will develop solution concepts for the outlined tasks in the summer. Impressively, the young creatives and startups identified "democracy" and "optimism" as the greatest challenges for the future of their businesses. The tasks formulated during the workshop are based on these guiding principles and will be further refined in the coming weeks.
Prof. Andreas Teufel, project leader at HSB for the IGNITION project, said: "A fantastic event that demonstrated how important it is to develop our innovations together with and within the region." One participant summed it up as follows: "The keynote presentations were insightful, the discussions fruitful, and the finger food absolutely excellent—surely a good omen for the challenges ahead!"
IGNITION is an international cooperation project among European universities that evaluates digital competencies for teaching. It develops international, interdisciplinary, and innovative teaching formats where students, lecturers, and businesses gain practical experience with "Challenge-Based Learning."
