Having new experiences, learning new things, strengthening your intercultural and your language skills and networking – a stay abroad brings many benefits not only for students.
Jessica Engelke, a member of the School of International Business of the Hochschule Bremen, was able to experience all this during a week-long stay for teaching and non-teaching staff at institutions of higher education on the island of Tenerife. The trip was funded by the Erasmus+ programme. During this "staff week" which was entitled "SUSTAINABLE TOURISM IN TENERIFE", she was able to gain completely new impressions of the island, which is otherwise known as a "package holiday destination".
Excursions to different parts of the island gave her, together with seven other participants from Hungary, Great Britain and Poland, a new insight into facets of sustainable tourism in Tenerife.
Overall, the week was a valuable experience, both personally and professionally.
For her work, Jessica Engelke took away new impulses for the integration of currently important topics for the HSB and the faculty, such as sustainability, innovation and internationality. She hopes that these can have a direct impact on the development of degree programmes, for example the new master's programme of the faculty "Sustainable Business & Entrepreneurship M. A.". Newly established contacts could also contribute to further cooperation opportunities for students going abroad during their studies and graduates of the faculty.
