Along with winning strategies to find interesting internships, the course covers writing CVs and application emails/letters with a strong focus on making each CV a unique expression of what the candidate can offer a potential employer. Building on this, practical input, group work and role-play activities are deployed to look at how to perform well in interviews.
Prior to the course, students should already have thought about what kind of internships they are looking for, what kind of companies/industries and what they have to offer such companies (relevant experience, knowledge, transferable skills etc.) and have carried out research into applying for such internships.
For the seminar, please collect/prepare the following material:
- a list of companies you would like to address
- job advertisements (internet/other sources) you find interesting for your career
- a draft curriculum vitae/résumé and cover letter
incoming students and other Hochschule Bremen students
The course deals with how to adopt a successful approach to finding/applying for and getting an internship in Germany in particular and the job market in general.
It also deals with self-reflection and exercises to help identify one’s own key strengths, transferable skills and interests and successfully apply these to the job market.
