Computer science in civil engineering continues as an interdisciplinary teaching field of civil engineering.
The understanding of the civil engineer is based on the activity of modeling real structures, processes and manufacturing methods. It requires an appropriate mastery of mathematical knowledge and skills, which in the train of today's computer-based activities requires an early integration of numerical methods.
Since the technical competences associated with engineering mathematics and construction informatics are needed in many application areas of civil engineering, I try to teach these competences and learning contents in the study program in a module-integrated and problem-oriented way. In the civil engineering program at the University of Applied Sciences Bremen, mathematics and computer science are no longer offered in classical subject modules, but in a module-integrated way.
In order to impart the knowledge, skills and competencies that require the confident use of office and construction-specific software, I have set up a virtual computer pool in the Civil Engineering program. Students, lecturers and employees of the study program can thus load a virtual PC onto their computer within the university via WiFi and outside the university via the Internet. Within this virtual PC, the software programs used in teaching are available for use. Students are thus provided with access to application software in civil engineering independent of location and time.
During non-reading hours by appointment (e-mail).
Consultation hours are currently held ONLINE in the BBB web conference room only. As a member of the AULIS courses, you may attend the designated office hours there.
