The European Finance and Accounting B.A. programme (EFA) offers you a modern and interesting range of subjects tailored to essential aspects of international management. By spending two semesters at a university abroad, you gain an academic degree from the host country in addition to the degree from the Hochschule Bremen. This is a major feature of the integrated programme and opens up excellent career prospects on an international level.
The EFA programme equips you with special core skills and abilities that enable you to take on cross-functional management tasks. You will be qualified for careers as a business economist with a focus on finance and accounting, particularly in German and internationally operating trading and finance companies as well as auditing firms.
In addition to the subject content and language training, the one-year stay abroad you further develop the intercultural competences which are so important on the fast-growing global job market.
Owing to the well-founded theoretical and practice-oriented European education and the double Bachelor's degree, graduates are much in demand in the business world and can look forward to very good career prospects in the management of transnational companies, banks, insurance companies, auditing firms, management consultancies and investment houses.
First of all, you complete a specialised programme at the Hochschule Bremen that provides you with a broad spectrum of classical business basics and a sound foundation in finance and accounting and other business-related topics. This is supplemented by intensive training in the business language of the country you choose for your stay abroad.
After the first three semesters in Bremen and a practical semester either in Germany or abroad, you undertake your studies at a partner university abroad in the fifth and sixth semesters.
The locations you can chose from for your studies abroad include Le Havre (France), Granada (Spain), Leeds (England), South Wales (near Cardiff / Wales), Istanbul (Turkey) and Dublin (Ireland).
In the seventh semester, you deepen your knowledge and build profile in elective modules. You complete your studies with the practice-related Bachelor's thesis (final paper).
Options for the elective modules in the seventh semester (you choose three):
Owing to the strategic objective of training business graduates for careers in a European economic area that is increasingly becoming integrated into the global economy, the programme meets with broad acceptance in business circles. International experience and comprehensive academic training, documented by the double degree, give rise to high levels of recognition.
The students of the European Finance and Accounting programme organise an annual symposium on business finance.
This symposium focuses on the close connection between theory and practice as well as on promoting communication between students, professors and practitioners in the field.
This event is of interest in particular to banks, auditing firms, controllers, financial service providers, insurance companies and management consultancies, most of which are represented with stands and contact persons.
Expert lectures and workshops held by renowned personalities in the business world, together with opportunities for extensive networking make the EFA Symposium a highlight of the academic year.
The one-year stay abroad, during which you obtain a further Bachelor's degree, is an integral part of the programme and prepares you for a career in international business. The stay abroad is partly co-financed by the ERASMUS programme of the EU.
The partner universities of the EFA network are:
