Against the background of the current serious structural changes and changes in the content of work in the nursing and care, three - interdependent - main topics are currently emerging:
Quality and efficiency (e.g. changing quality requirements, increasingly scarce specialist staff, increase in the number of cases with decreasing length of stay and shifts in services), ethics and economics (e.g. increasing cost pressure, decreasing efficiency reserves, capacity reduction in acute care vs. capacity expansion in the outpatient/inpatient sector) as well as tradition and progress (e.g. changing patient requirements, integrative care, outpatient before inpatient), all of which are discursively dealt with in the study.
The strategies for action associated with this lie, among other things, in specialisation (quality) and in the concentration of services (professionalisation) as well as in networking (cooperation).
The International Degree Programme in Nursing and Health Care Management (B.A.) addresses these challenges in its curriculum and offers the possibility of a degree programme oriented towards the future.
