The International Women's Degree Programme in Computer Science enables you to obtain a degree in computer science with a focus on software development. Foundation courses are offered monoeducationally, i.e. exclusively for women, and are taught in small groups – an approach that is unique in Germany and has become a model for other universities. From the 3rd semester onwards, you can take part in co-educational courses (with male and female students).
The programme focuses on the application of computer science: software engineering, human-machine interaction, computer science and society and the occupational practice. With its international orientation, the degree programme takes account of processes surrounding globalisation and the increasing internationalisation of companies.
No previous knowledge is required. Tutorials are held before and during the programme to give "newcomers" a good start to their studies.
Application period for the start of the summer semester 2025: 15 December '24 - 15 January '25
The development of large software systems requires in-depth expertise in various sub-areas of computer science. It increasingly takes place in internationally operating companies. In addition to technical know-how, communication skills, team spirit and sensitivity towards cultural characteristics are therefore important success factors. You will be optimally prepared for these requirements in the course of your studies.
Our graduates are in demand wherever software is planned, developed, adapted and used, i.e. in small and medium-sized enterprises in the region as well as in the public sector or in internationally operating companies. On the one hand, the degree programme creates a broadening of career perspectives for women and, on the other hand, contributes to increasing the still very low proportion of women in technical and natural science degree programmes. The degree also entitles the holder to take up a consecutive Master's programme.
By completing the integrated, compulsory stay at a university abroad in combination with the additional practical semester you are well equipped to deal with transnational and intercultural issues. It also opens up greater opportunities for you to take on management positions, especially in technologically oriented professional fields.

Questions about the degree programme can be answered by the contact persons on the degree programme pages. If you have any further questions about your decision to study at HSB, our advisory and service institutions will be happy to help.
