A unique degree programme in Germany! The International Master's degree programme ‘Sustainable Leisure and Tourism Development’ is oriented towards changing requirements in society and the market, because these have a direct impact on leisure culture and the demands and forms of travel, i.e. demographic development, social and global trends as well as increasing demands for sustainable development in many areas of life. The demand for correspondingly trained professionals is increasing.

As a graduate of the Master's programme, you will be able to plan and conduct your own academic studies, analyse current trends and derive action and planning concepts for different leisure and tourism fields at an international level. The degree programme is geared towards application-oriented research in an international context. Beyond this, interdisciplinary management knowledge is acquired against the overarching background of sustainable development.
The Master's is consecutive to the Bachelor's degree programmes ‘International Degree Programme in Applied Leisure Studies’ or the ‘International Degree Programme in Tourism Management’ at the Hochschule Bremen.

The special focus on application-oriented research in close contact with practitioners contributes significantly to improving the career opportunities and also the further academic career of graduates. The Master's degree also entitles students to enter the higher civil service and to do a doctorate.
The first semester is devoted to in-depth studies in the areas of international management in leisure and tourism as well as specialised research methods. The second semester focuses on research-related studies. Four modules deal with special fields of activity and research in leisure and tourism. Another module serves to deepen skills in leadership and team building. The third semester is the final semester of the programme and is used to write the Master's thesis. About 50 percent of the modules are offered in English and 50 percent in German.
Throughout the entire programme, most of the courses are delivered in English.
A stay abroad is not compulsory, but if you want to do it, the faculty will be happy to support you.
