Zur Person | After studying political science, sociology and English philology, Christof Dieterle has been working as a lecturer for English for Specific Purposes (ESP) at the Language Center of the universities in the state of Bremen since 2010. In addition to his teaching activities in the field of ESP in various degree courses at the University of Applied Sciences and the University of Bremen, one of his main areas of work is the teaching of university didactic language skills in the form of further training, workshops and individual coaching for university lecturers. The main focus here is on reducing inhibitions in the use of language, concrete assistance in the areas of vocabulary and presentation technique and in dealing with students inside and outside of the class room. |

The aim of this workshop is to improve individual language skills in order to be able to give lectures confidently in English and communicate more effectively with colleagues and students. The program is specifically designed for university lecturers. The content is taught in a hands-on way and there is the option to book further individual coaching if required.
The workshop sessions take place in person and cover topics such as:
- Dealing with uncertainties regarding your own language skills
- Getting to know effective lecture techniques and using them with feedback support
- Getting to know and actively using frequently used phrases and terms in academic teaching practice
- Intonation and rhetoric exercises
- Classroom management (dealing with conflicts, clear communication, etc.)
Lecturers
English competences of atleast B2 level are required
After attending the workshop, participants are expected to be able to
- implement the methods and techniques they have learned in a short presentation
- react appropriately to challenges in different teaching situations
